I got deferred from Williams, and I wanted to know the results for everyone who applied early. I am also curious for those who got accepted (congratulations!) also sent their SAT or ACT scores along with their applications. I understand that Williams decided to go test-optional this year, but I am still curious to know if sending the scores played any role in the decision making. Also, any tips or ideas on what my next steps should be would be super helpful!
I’m sorry to hear you were deferred. My older child was deferred by so many schools despite being a similar student to my D21. There are just too many qualified applicants and not enough spaces. The frustrating part of being deferred is that the waiting period is prolonged. I think it would be better to try to fall in love with another school in the process and then be pleasantly surprised at the end. My older child loves where he is at right now. It was a school that accepted him right away.
My D is a recruited athlete and went through her prereads in the summer. Before the coach could offer her a spot on the team, she had to pass the preread, which involved submitting test scores, school profile, transcript, senior year list of classes, and a writing sample.
Here are my D’s stats:
ACT 35 single sitting
Math 2 770
Gpa - straight A’s throughout high school except for a B in one class
10 AP classes
Her EC’s was mainly related to her sport, but she did have other EC’s in music, community service, immunology research, and debate. She submitted this information on the common app along with her essay and recommendation letters, but she already had a “green light” from admissions at the preread, so I’m not sure if there was any weight put on those things.
Consider ED2 at Middlebury, Pomona or Swarthmore.
