I'm entering a local wind instrument competition, in oh... 2 1/2 weeks, and the suggestion was "a woodwind or brasswind solo, suitable to be performed with wind band (eg. Haydn Trumpet Concerto, chaminade Concertino for Flute, etc.)." Does anyone know how easy/hard interesting/boring the Chaminade Concertino is or know any other flute solos that can be accompanied by a wind band? I'm kind of in a bind because my band teacher didn't tell me this until today. By the way, I only play accompanied by my accompanist for the competition, and if I win, I perform with a band.

i'm actually in the same predicament (a fellow flutist)... try this link -- http://www.larrykrantz.com/withband.htm

Isn't Chaminade scored for full orchestra? That's a rhetorical question, really-- I've played the violin part... Has it been re-arranged or something?

harpingchic, can each song on that webpage be accompanied by a wind band? I'll have to take that list to Sam Ash sometime this weekend and try them out.

fiddlefrog, the title is "Chaminade Concerto for Flute," so I guess there's a different version for the flute. Will have to see this weekend.

yes they all can be, but it's really a question of finding the accompaning parts... most have publishers listed but many of them are out of print.
