Window to Wake Forest Portal/Decisions

Once you have been accepted/deferred/denied does your Window to Wake Forest page reflect a decision has been made? Do you receive a follow-up email or letter after receiving a black or white envelope?

@FabulousWu, Wake does not use Window to Wake to announce their decision on a candidate. Window to Wake is more about you exploring and receiving more information about Wake. The sole method Wake uses to tell you their decision is by “snail mail”. And yes you want the black envelope. Good luck and go Deacs!

@WFUparent, Right. But is there any additional email follow-up? The reason I ask is what if the letter is lost in the mail? We have been having problems in my neighborhood with stolen mail.

@FabulousWu, here is a link to Wake’s admission blog: http://fromtheforest.admissions.wfu.edu/2016/03/releasing-decisions-getting-closer/ Sorry to here about your trouble with the mail, but if you do not receive a letter by April 1st or 2nd you should call them (this is assuming you applied regular admission). Wake is very understanding and they will find a way to get you your response. Again I hope you get a black envelope!

@WFUparent, actually our ds has applied ED and we are a little over a month out, file complete Oct. 26. From what I’ve learned from Window to Wake it seems they try to reply to ED inside 6 weeks. I’m just trying to prevent calling the school, that’s why I asked about a follow-up email or additional letter.

@FabulousWu, here is a link to Wake’s admissions page that set forth certain time frames and discusses Wake process: http://admissions.wfu.edu/apply/process/. Please note there are 2 ED time frames. ED 1 is rolling admission and there is no set time for decisions to be sent out (this means you can use 6 weeks a guide, but there is no guarantee). ED2 must apply by January 1 and will receive a decision around February 15. This is the first year Wake has used 2 ED process. Maybe, and I do mean maybe, the will hold on to some ED1 applications decisions until January 1 and see how those applicants size up with ED2 and RD applications.

I know that I really have not been too helpful, but maybe a quick call to admissions would not hurt. I do hope a black envelope is coming your way.

@WFUparent Thank you for all of your help and suggestions. I think he will give it one more week (officially 6 weeks) then perhaps a call. Hate to call admissions! Your thoughts about holding on to ED apps to compare to the 11/15 bunch (his file was complete 10/26) and then even 1/1 has crossed my mind. Ugh. Either way I will post the answer to help other students who are waiting as well.

@FabulousWu, a week after my son received his black envelope he got an email to set up a student account. So, you actually will receive some indication that you are accepted.

@Power01 Thank you!

@WFUparent Upon reflection, I do not believe Wake would hold onto EDI applications to compare them to ED2. Especially for students who applied before 11/15. The reason is that those students need to either be accepted or released to be free to apply ED2 to another college if they want to. It would be a terrible precedent to set with both students/high school counselors to hold onto EDI applications to compare to ED2. I do not believe other colleges with both EDI and ED2 programs do that.

@FabulousWu, you make a great point. I can tell you Wake is very fair minded in everything I see them do (I hear what people say, but more importantly I watch what they do). I hope your family has a black envelope in their future.
