I personally think drinking even a little bit of grape wine can help me feel more sleepy. So I can testify for the findings in this article.

Does anyone else have experience with wine as a sleep aid?

PS. The article suggests that the alcohol content of the wine is believed to be the determinant. Well I've tried wine with a tiny portion of vodka... I could feel my heartbeat through my pillow for 2 straight hours. Don't mix vodka with wine like I did :)

^^ Many doctors recommend a glass of wine per day to keep you healthy.
A glass of wine per day, does not an alcoholic make. Trust me, I live with an alcoholic .

I despise wine, but the few times I’ve had it, it has not made me sleepy. Beer does though. Go figure shrug.

It’s not the fact that the wine is an alcoholic beverage that makes it good for you, but the fact that it has certain extractable chemicals. These extracted chemicals can easily be purchased as supplements at many pharmacies and stores.

However, I don’t know if I recommend it as a sleep aid though. The best thing for sleep is a goud routine/schedule, which I know can be very tough in college, especially in a dorm.

I’m sure it works, I just don’t like depending on anything to put me to sleep, other than my body’s clock. However, I do pop a Benadryl if I REALLY need a good nights rest.

Whoever mentioned “Alcoholic” is being stupid.

I’m sure that’s probably correct, but do pills/supplements taste as good? No, having a glass of wine is a much more enjoyable process.

Plus, it thins the blood, which is good for heart issues, basically the same concept of taking an Aspirin everyday - just more enjoyable.

It might make you sleepy initially but you might be more likely to wake up in the middle of the night if you’ve put yourself to sleep with alcohol. Something about the depressant effect. A former boyfriend who was an alcoholic explained it to me in a way that made sense but that was a long time ago.
