10char fjdkafj

I'd just like to thank 3/4 of the comm professors for deciding to go with m/w/f. And for deciding to pick the most boring classes available in the curriculum.

OMG STOP.

dsjflasdjfk ok plz help. so im in a cluster, but i also have separate priority enrollment from something else. does that mean i get priority enrollment for cluster and another classs? so the 10 units??

and for priority, you get to enroll in 10 units, then you wait until first or second pass to do it again??

second.

which actually sucks, because its like oh yay i get 2 of my classes and then i get to fight for my other ones. but still, priority is better than no priority.

oh and you get 10 units regardless of how many things qualify you for priority.

does anybody know when the language placement tests are offered so I know which language class to register into for winter quarter?

ok thx allie.. so stressful making classes work !

i cant even imagine how you do t/th only. next quarter, even with my ideal schedule, ill have class m-f all day

i don't really have a choice anymore. i actually really prefer m/w but comm people are stupid and do fridays all the time. it's not super hard to do t/r, it just makes for longer days. right now im contemplating a t/r schedule that'd basically be 10-12, 2-315, 330-445 (14 units, 15 if I do an honors contract for the last one). which actually isn't bad at all.

but most upper division courses in comm don't have discussions, which helps A LOT. i almost refuse to take classes with discussions because it's a completely pointless waste of time and i have other options at this point.

Bruinbee09:

What language are you thinking of taking?

allie, is that 4 classes? i'm not sure if i should do 3 or 4 classes...if i do 3, i'll only have T/R (T 930-1045, 1230-145, 6-850) (R 930-1045, 1230-145, 2-250, 4-450) but that's only 12 units, i'm thinking about upping it to 4 but that would mean i'd have class on m/w too, although that's just one class i guess. how many units are you guys planning to take?

it's 3 classes. i forecasted how different my gpa would be if i took an extra class, and it was only altered by .01. so uh. not going to kill myself over 4 extra units if it's not even going to help that much.

besides, 15 units for me is totally plenty. i have 16 right now and between class and work and life i want to die most of the time.

ekn111:
Im planning on taking french

it seems like the myucla class planner isn't accurate/consistent with the winter 07 schedule? at least, for math 33A its not...

class planner for 07W isn't up yet

is it required/recommended to take 20L concurrently with 20B?

Enrollment in French 1 thru 6 is contingent on proper placement as determined by the results of the departmental placement examination to be given Tuesday, November 7, 2006, from 4 to 6 p.m. in A24 Haines Hall (photo I.D. required). (1) Students with one or more years of high school French MUST present a placement examination score on the first day of class. (2) Students who have taken the AP examination and received a score of 3 or higher need not take the departmental placement examination but should consult the UCLA General Catalog for credit equivalencies. (3) Students who have never had high school French may preenroll in French 1 without taking the placement examination but should consult the UCLA General Catalog for credit equivalencies. (4) Transfer students who have had French at another college should check their degree progress report for credit equivalencies granted on admission (see counselors in A316 Murphy Hall or call 310-825-3382).

So it's coming up soon.

grark:
It is not required to take 20B and 20BL concurrently; you can take 20B one quarter and 20BL the next.

ekn111: do we just show up for the exam or do we have to sign up for it somewhere?...also I already completed my language requirement..since i passed My AP..but Im doing a french minor..so how I do I know if that changes anything..im guessing i still have to do french 4-6..right?

You just show up for the exam. (But since you've passed the AP language test, you can bypass the exam). Depending on what score you got on the AP language test, you are given credit up to a certain level. For the minor, you have to take French 6 as a lower division class. However, if you passed out of it with a 5 on the AP language test, I believe you just need to take one more lower division course (French 12, 14, or 15). If you didn't get a 5, you will need to take whatever level you got placed in according to your score, i.e., French 4 if you scored 3 or French 5 if you scored 4, and work your way up.

is anyone planning to take the GRE this year? i'm thinking about taking it before they change it from a 2.5 hr test to a FOUR hr test. i feel like i'm taking the SATs all over again.

ekn111: thanks soooo much!! wow you were so helpful!! according to what you told me I think Im gonna be taking french 4 winter quarter..heh

Good luck! (for you too bfired2) :D
