winter 2007 schedule

I believe that the next Chinese placement exam is on January 8, 2007, but by that time, we will have already signed up for classes.

My situation: I want to take the test to see if I can place into Chinese 2 (not confident in my reading/writing) and then sign up for it if I do place into it. But how will I know if I take the test on January 8?

Thanks for the help!

oh, good call

when will class planner for winter 07 be up?

MadeInChina:

You should just sign up for the class now and wait to see the placement exam result later. If you get placed into the class, great. If not, you can drop it and take the level you placed in.

besides, 15 units for me is totally plenty. i have 16 right now and between class and work and life i want to die most of the time.

I hear you.

does unit count inculde the courses you are taking now?

bfired2, I'm taking it this year. When are sign-ups? Are there prep books in the bookstore?

I believe that you can sign up for most weekdays and weekends, since it's a computer-based test. The closest test center is Culver City. Can anyone who's taken then GREs confirm this? I haven't checked the UCLA bookstore, but there's tons of them at Borders. I think the new GREs go into effect in October 2007.

For some reason, I'm classified as a Senior w/ 135 units and my 1st pass is 11/21. This is my first quarter here as a transfer student- anyone else get this too?

Ug. I'm the 17th. Which is good. BUT DUDE. Senior AND priority.

I should totally have a 16th date.

Not cool.

And bfired- huh? As a transfer you only should have been able to come in with a max of 105. So unless you did 30 units this quarter...I don't get it. Oh or summer school I guess, too. If that's the case, then you would have senior status.

bahhh mines the 24th!

i'm a first year and i have early morning the 16th, unfortuantely half of its going toward a cluster...

allie, how do you maintain priority so late?

What do you mean? Like, late in my academic career?

I'm in the honors program.

same here namaste...morning of 16th...this means i must start planning. blah.

Well, technically, I had 124 units, but only 105 of them should've transferred. I'm only taking 12 units this fall, so maybe 124 units transferred instead? Or maybe UCLA just wants to give me extra units, which is fine by me. Well, unless I go over the cap.

yeah..theres no way you get all 124. i had somewhere around there and was definitely capped at 105. very strange.

Also, can I please say how much I hate my options this quarter?

I miss my schedule from last winter. I wasn't even working then (was in the midst of a very long job search) and this was my schedule. Marvel: Tuesday 330-545. Thursday: 1-345, 5-8.

This winter won't be quite the same. Sigh.

ekn yes the planning is intense. i literally keep changing my mind about what classes i want to take everyday. but i think im closing in oin a final

AGHH how do we get into anything 2nd pass. its not like orientation 101 when we were ahead of every freshmen. what do i get 2nd pass, is ANYTHIng open??

Plenty of stuff is still open during 2nd pass. You just have to choose your priority classes very, very wisely.

how do you choose your priority classes?

obviously the classes harder to get into right? but can you preidct that??

depending on your time, you can monitor the registrar site and see which ones are filling up the fastest.
