Wireless Connection in Clara Dickson

How is it?

I think it should be okay considering that they have a computer lab on the basement.

^I hope so

There is no RedRover in Dickson.

You’ll be hardlined into ResNet.

^That’s not true: [CIT: RedRover Coverage](<a href=“IT@Cornell | Services and Support”>IT@Cornell | Services and Support)

^Who’s correct?

According to CIT, Dickson IS covered. The real question is, do you believe CIT? :D

If there isn’t RedRover coverage, you can also hook up a wireless router and have wireless internet that way.

^Anyone have personal experiance?

D used redrover last year in Dickson. Her father said the speed was fantastic.

Personal experience with having a wireless router in the dorms? I did it in Becker for a year and a half, but I believe they installed RedRover there at the end of last fall (that’s what the construction in the building was about, if I recall correctly), so it’s not necessary anymore. No experience with Dickson, though–sorry.

Indeed. The internet speed in Cornell always amazes me. I downloaded a 700 MB file in 5 seconds from the Engineering Library, but this is wired. The wireless never fails me :)

Ah, I’m probably wrong.

Lived in Dickson in 2006-2007, things probably have changed.

woody, that is good to know

there was wireless in dickson…

chances are if you can see a wireless router in your hall/outside your door that the coverage will be good…

wireless will be faster too XD

^this is good to know

wireless will be faster in dickson (most of the time)

because dickson is not wired with the same wiring that the newer dorms have…

for the record, I think almost all the dorms on campus now have wireless. I know for a fact that that CIT red rover map is not totally up to date, since it doesn’t have installations that were done over last winter break. it’s definitely way more wireless on west campus than that map suggests.
