With my terrible test scores, what are my chances?

Now, that's looking more like a sensible list. While the reaches may be pretty reachy, that's OK as long as you have matches and safeties where you would be willing to go.

i dont no much about these colleges, but ur stats seem good, especialy the ecs/clubs

Id say u have a chance at all of them but u don't have any definate safeties. You should probably add at least one. u mentioned UIUC but don't have it on ur list, if u put that on ur list you should be fine.

just lookin out, don't want you to not get in anywhere.

hey haldir thx for chancing me. ur ec's look pretty decent, but you might want to mention any leadership positions you have.
duke - reach
uc berkeley - high match
uc irvine- you're in
ucsd - in.
Northwestern - high match/low reach
chapel hill - ?
michigan - high match
wisconsin - match
grinnell - match

Honestly, I haven't done held many leadership positions because a lot of my friends always take the positions before I can even try to get it. And @ bush, those schools are only my schools I think are reaches/matches.

Duke - high match
UC Berkeley - high match
UC Irvine - in
UCSD - in
Northwestern - high match/low reach
UNC - match
University of Michigan - match
University of Wisconsin - match
Grinnell College - match

Should I even bother to apply to the UCs? OOS admission is pretty tough...I don't know if my test scores can stand against in-state applicants.

Generally - and this may not be true everywhere, but in a lot of state schools - they have a quota for every state, and therefore, it's better to turn in your application as soon as you possibly can so it gets looked at first-come-first-serve. I know that sounds dumb, but it's really true. My friend in high school applied to UCF... and with her grades, it should have been a safety... but she waited till the deadline to turn in her app, and was rejected. She called to ask why and they said they had already reached their quota for our state so her app wasn't even looked at. And we live in a very small insignificant state. So with state schools, I think the earlier you turn in your app, the better.

Moving to Illinois will not help you with Northwestern. There are enough Illinois kids already applying there; if anything, Oklahoma would be more of a "hook" with them.

But good luck to you!

ok. ok. someone needs a reality check:
the average SAT score is 500
you have all 6&700's.
you aren't a terrible test taker.
you will get into most or all of your schools

first of all a 3.97 gpa is amazing
however, at your school it might be quite easy to achieve such a high gpa.
what about the rigor of your course?

I see you got 3’s on your AP tests, yet you probably got A’s in the class. This shows some grade inflation at your school. Also, you have to factor in how competitive your school is.

lastly, you have great ECs and a good ACT score.

submit the ACT score instead of the SAT

my sat score is 1960, i hope i can pull a really good ACT out of no where and use that like you haha. I did good, but royally screwed up in criitical reading so not great…my goal was > 2000:

Math: 680
Writing: 680
Critical Reading: 600
