With the ACT, do you still need subject tests?

Considering the ACT covers a lot of curriculum stuff unlike the sat reasoning test, are subjects tests still needed?

It depends on each college's requirements. Check the Web sites of the colleges you are most interested, or contact the admission offices, for up-to-date information. Some colleges require subject tests from all applicants, ACT or SAT I.

For the UC's, definitely.

Go here to see list of colleges that require, recommend or consider SAT IIs: http://www.compassprep.com/admissions_req_subjects.aspx

For any one of those under the required column where there is a * next to the number required, that means the college takes the ACT in lieu of both the SAT and SAT IIs.

You will notice that most colleges in the nation do not appear on that list at all. That is because most neither require nor consider SAT IIs for admission.
