To whom it may concern,
I would like to extend my extreme gratitude for the opportunity
to attend the University of California, Los Angeles.
It was a great honor for me to be accepted into the school. I had
submitted my SIR to UCLA a few days ago and
became extremely excited to attend. However, recent events have forced
me to attend school much closer to home
than I would like. As such, I can no longer attend UCLA in the fall. I
would like to formally withdraw my SIR from
UCLA effective on the date I sent this email (5/31/2010). I realize
that I am loosing my $100 deposit, as well as the
housing deposit for doing this. I thank your kind consideration on this matter.

Regards,
NAME

yeah...is this fine? or do I have to follow up with a call tomorrow?
Im also SIRing to Cal today.

I know you really hate Cal, but those of us who are transferring there aren’t appreciative of your anecdotal stories of why you hate Cal so much. To be honest, reading through your previous posts, it sounds like you simply won’t give yourself the chance to enjoy your time at Cal. You complain about things that are common at all universities. It sounds like you made a few bad friends or are homesick or something. But for those of us who are excited about going to Cal and who are going to Cal with our minds made up that we’re going to ENJOY our time… Your posts really don’t help and they just kinda ruin the mood…

One of the posters in your thread “Top Ten Reasons WHY You HATE Cal” summed it up best:

SFWarrior, you should also call just to be safe. But there is no way they’re going to rescind you for submitting two SIRs. They only submit people who do that with certain strategic intentions and not people who have honestly changed their minds and have already contacted the other school to cancel the SIR. :)

@anonymous…actually I already have an ibanking job in Singapore lined up for me thanks to my dad’s connections. They wouldn’t entertain anyone that wasnt from HYSPCB.

Oh yeah, that definitely helps your credibility. lol Sorry you (obviously) had an awful time at Cal… But unless you change your attitude/approach, you’re probably going to have an awful time anywhere.

What makes anonymous think he/she would have been happier at UCLA or any other school? That’s dumb, maybe it’s just the premed that you hate. And everyone I know who goes to Cal loves it.
