Without SAT II (2012), will the UCs look down on my application?

The SAT II's not required anymore.
Some people have said it makes your application looks better, but it's not fair for people who only have SAT or ACT but SAT II.

It’s not required, but it’s “recommended”. I suppose it shows that you are going beyond the bare minimum.

Out of curiosity, why do you feel that it’s not fair to those people who took only SAT/ACT? It was their choice not to take the SAT II - it isn’t like they weren’t allowed to or were prohibited from taking it. Also, it’s not as if time has run out because October and November are still available for taking those tests.

Edit: Oh, I forgot to say, many of my friends are in fact taking subject tests because we’re all under the impression that it makes our applications look more impressive.

It will help to have SAT II’s scores. On behalf of all the UC’s I recommend you take some.

Here is UC’s statement on subject tests and you can weigh for yourself if and for which campus or major you might want to take them: [University of California - SAT Subject Tests](http://www.universityofcalifornia.edu/admissions/freshman/requirements/examination-requirement/SAT-subject-tests/index.html)
