I cannot *ing believe this. So last night, after about 6 straight hours of studying, I set my alarm to 7:05, thinking, "yea thats plenty of time to get there by 7:45." I wake up, to the sound of no alarm, thinking "oh *" and check my phone, its 7:55. While yelling multiple profanities I throw some clothes on and rush out the door. Hoping that this is too early for cops, I speed into town only to not find the *ing test center. I finally find it at 8:20 and rush in. I go to the subject test room and see no one is there so I try the sat room. A woman is giving the test instructions and assuming she is the proctor, I tell her what happened. Beyond the embarrassment of being late, the entire SAT room is basically laughing at me. * them. Apparently I was the only person taking the subject test and the guy left. She calls the guy and heres how (I think) the conversation went:

Woman: Hey, Caleb ***** is here.
Guy: Are you *ing serious?
Woman: Yeah, can you come in?
Guy: Nah its too cold.
Woman: Are you sure?
Guy: Yeah, I feel like *ing this kid over for college. hangs up

So now the woman tells me it doesn't matter if he won't come in, it's past 8:15 anyways and they'll fill out a Incident report form. I then ask her, "am I screwed?" and she basically says, "yes, your ed." I'm trying to suppress my frustration here but it is very, very difficult. I succeed, to a point, and thank the woman (she was genuinely nice) and leave. My alarm (in my phone) I find out now was set to Monday-Friday. I changed my school alarm by accident. *** mother ******* ******** ******* ******. After thoughts of finding the subject test guy and trashing his car, I instead decide to write a long, profanity laden rant on collegeconfidential. I think I chose right.

Also, this was going to be my first time taking the Sat II, and I need two for Columbia. I'm positive I would've scored high on both (U.S. History and Math II)

Some questions after this:
1. Is there anyway Columbia will let me take the March 4 one?
2. If not, can I get my money back?

Ouch man… I’m not sure if Columbia will allow you to take the March 4 tests but are you really sure they’ll want a student who is so disorganized he can’t even keep track of something as simple as an alarm clock?

But you can get your money back… I’m almost positive. Contact college board before Wed.

Bummer!!! that sucks, but you ll be ok. Universe has a timing and destiny for all of us, so it happend for a reason, anyway a good thing will come out. Just relax and accept it, move on, try to find a solution.
Things happen for a reason.

^goldendomer, it was a mistake damn. I know it was my fault no need to add salt. What is with anonymity that makes people like you act like jerks?

I’m so sorry… contact Columbia immediately and explain the situation. Then get the name of your would be proctor and have them vouch that they left the room when you didn’t show up and then refused to come back to proctor you.

I would contact Collegeboard and see if there is any special/alternative testing date available for you. Of course, you should explain your case first.

Holy crap! That’s the epitome of an ■■■ situation. Yeah, definitely contact Collegeboard and Columbia and see if you can do something about it. If all else fails, ring the proctor’s doorbell and let him watch as you break his car’s windshield with a baseball bat. This sucks!

Well, I do wish you the best, man. Columbia or not, you’ll turn out fine.

I think Columbia would consider it if you explain your remorse to them, and they will probably understand that it was a mistake(You set your alarm to monday-friday). Show how desperate you are when you contact them.

If all other things are good such as GPA, SAT I, Extracurriculars, essays, etc, they still might let you take the one in March, but you had to have sent in your regular application already (Jan 1 deadline). Also, because their transfer application is March 15, they could possibly review your application during their assessment on the transfer students.

You should contact college board. That man had no right to refuse your tests, you were only signed up for two tests and they have a responsibility to be there for at least three. If you were going to take 3 they might have a legitimate (although unbelievably cold) argument that the testing session would have run too late. Also, I read somewhere that some people don’t test on Saturday, so does CB alternative test dates for them, if so maybe you could look into that. Lastly, maybe you could try the ACT; if I’m not mistaken most colleges will take SAT+ACT and/or SAT+Sat Subjects, or some will take just the ACT. It was unfortunate, **** happens to everyone; I wish you the best.

You know, if they had 3 hours of testing scheduled, and other people were taking them, you could have just waited until the 2nd and 3rd hours of testing. Another layer of ***t happens.

Thanks for the advice everyone. After reading all your posts it made me realize that the proctor was even a bigger dick than I presumed. Aren’t they paid for sitting there? I was only taking two test too. Well, w/e, I’ll call them Monday and see what Columbia can do, if anything at all. Also, there are no March 4 subject tests I just found out so that give me little to no chance. This has truly been a ■■■ experience.
