ok if anyone actually pays attention to the HMC forum....

Women at Mudd, how bad is the boy scene really? I go to an all-girls school, so it might or might not be a big different (if the guys are cool, a difference; if they are really nerd, then so are all the girls at my school, same with pretty much all girls' schools lol).

I wouldn't mind being surrounded by moderatley nerdy boys, but is it unbearably bad???

Absolutely not. The guys at Mudd are really awesome (for the most part). There are a few who fit the bill of the typical nerd, but I'm sure that's true of every college. Our guys are maybe a bit more nerdy than most, but that's to be expected from a school with an average SAT score in the high 1400's. Mostly it just manifests itself as more attention to schoolwork and higher level of intelligence; there's less of the anti-social, fail to wash themselves, and lack of attention to appearance traits that the "typcial" nerd has.

Do kids at Mudd have interest in intellectual areas outside of science? Do they discuss literature, philosophy, politics, art?

Yes. Many of my friends are rather outspoken about politics, my suitemate is fascinated with philosophy, and many of us really enjoy good literature. I haven't witnessed any discussions about art, but there are definitely mudders who have a passion for it. I can't say for certain that ALL mudders have broad interests, but I would say that a good majority, at least, do. (Oh, and the interests are certainly not limited to those four.)
