Wondering if non-change in status is related to dual enrollment?

My daughter also did not receive an acceptance/rejection....she has no change in her status.
She is a dual enrollment student. Did anyone else who did not get a status change also have dual enrollment in their application?

Did she get her application in on time? A neighbor's son missed the deadline and didn't hear anything either. They must have a second date to inform these kids? I'm guessing. My daughter didn't get in and her world seems to be crumbling down around her. :(

gatormom:

That's my D's situation as well (maybe exacerbated by the fact my D is homeschooled).

Her app was timely but transcripts from Edison State College and FLVS were delayed.

Others are telling us not to worry too much.

Smilemaker, sorry to hear of your D's reaction. When one door closes, another one opens (but at 17-18 that's little comfort to hear).

Same problem here. I applied as a first time in college freshmen and a high school student that has 60 credit hours/ AA. I know that sounds contradictory but when I called up an admissions assistant they said that was the best course of action because transfer students have 2 years to graduate. That's not nearly long enough to get my BS because some of my credits won't transfer (I believe) and I don't know what my major will be yet.

Yes, I spoke with the counselor in charge with the HS/AA students, and even if you applied before Nov. 1st, some of the decisions are not yet ready. They are looking at all of the DE students very carefully. I would contact your UF counselor by e-mail to ask about your decision. Check for your admissions counselor e-mail here: http://www.admissions.ufl.edu/pdf/Gatortales.pdf

A few of my friends are in the same no-status predicament, but they were all recommended to contact our UF counselor about their decisions. One of them already got accepted, and the others are still waiting.

Best of luck!

That's odd. I am an early admissions student (I take all my classes at the nearby CC), and I will be getting my AA with my high school degree, and my decision was up.

same here I will have my AA and HS degree and my decision was also posted on time.

What did you guys put on your application? I believe I put first time in college freshmen and a high schooler with 60 college credit hours.

Oh and thank you for the emails laughingbrunette!

Whoops already told you guys that. :x

This instance only happened to a few people. I received my admissions decison on time, but a few of my friends who are also HS/AA did not (although they submitted the app before the Nov. 1st deadline too). Some I believe are still waiting, poor things.

I am also waiting on a decision. I was told to apply as a freshman by the admissions people, and I even got e-mails saying my decision would be available on the 13th.... however, I still have not heard. I am really frustrated and disappointed in UF right now. I understand they have a ton of applicants, but they have out right lied to me. I mean, I got my A.A. in pre-law this December with a 3.9 GPA!!! Why do they need to look at my application so much closer than a normal student? Ugh. I'm calling the office tomorrow morning.

WHAT IN THE WORLD IS GOING ON!?!? FSU is starting to look really friendly right now.....

Alright I just called the office of admissions. The lady there said that they are first looking at dual enrolled students as freshmen, then they are sending the application to the college that you put down on your application. When the college decides, they'll tell you. She said this could either take a day or a long time. I think I'll be going to UCF.

That action most likely means that you (as an HS/AA major) were not accepted as a freshman, and they sent your app to your college to see if you can get in as a transfer. You may not hear back until March, but I'd reccommend you wait. Each college meets every two weeks to look at transfer apps as they are on a rolling basis right now.

"Thank you for submitting an application for admission to the University of Florida. As a prospective student receiving your AA degree in addition to your high school diploma, we will be reviewing your high school performance, admissions essay, college GPA, and the completion of prerequisite courses for your major, along with other pertinent information.

We appreciate your patience as we continue to evaluate both your high school and college-level coursework. In the meantime, please check the information below to ensure that all application materials have been received by our office. If you have sent information to us recently, please allow time for processing.

Sincerely,
Office of Admissions
University of Florida"

That is what they put up when I log into see my status. I spent all Friday night trying to log in, completely stressed out, and when I finally did get logged in the decision wasn't even available. And not to mention, who's brilliant idea was it to release decisions on a Friday, and then close the admissions office for the next two days so students like me still have no idea what's going on. You know what, I can go play basketball at an awesome small liberal arts college, or go to one of four other major state flagship universities that I got into across the country in way better cities than Gainesville. Congrats to everyone who got in. But as far as I'm concerned, screw UF.

That is exactly right laughingbrunette. They automatically "reject" incoming freshmen students with AAs and send the application to the college. This allows them to accept more incoming freshmen.

And my kid is a senior in high school and we emailed admissions, they got right back to us and said his "no status change was due to the fact that they were missing a transcript from the school he attended in ninth grade." I know for a fact it was sent out, so now they told us a decision would be posted late today or early tomorrow. The wait is killing us. It's probably going to be a denial, I just wish they would do it already so we can move on.

I don't know that it necessarily means that I was rejected as a freshman, and that I'm now a "transfer." I called and they said "oh, it's probably just because they're waiting to hear back from the college." My status thing says that they have to evaluate me as both a transfer and a freshman, so I guess it makes sense that they have to hear back from the college first. Then again, maybe you're right, laughingburnette, and my freshman part was rejected, so now it up to the college I applied to. Either way, I have a 3.9 college GPA (they're not easy courses either). I mean, that's about as close to perfect as possible. How could it be that I can finish two years of college, mostly in 10th and 11th grade, with a near perfect GPA, and somehow be considered not capable of succeeding at UF? At this point I don't plan to go to UF. But if I get rejected, I'll be convinced that UF has the worst admissions office of any college I've seen. If I'm accepted, then I wish I could give my place to someone who really wants to go, because I don't want to go to a college that litterally lied to me, and had me up til 2 in the morning completely stressed out..... and oh yeah, it's day number three, and I still haven't heard.

Sums up my feeling too AT-9.

I would have had a much harder course load than I did, but unfortunately football did not allow that. This is my first semester I am taking a course with a lab (general college chemistry) and I'm loving it.

On a related note, I called a friend of my brother who went to UF with an AA out of high school. He said they would not let him know their decision until they got his final transcripts in May (College of Business). If they said that to me, I'd have to say GG and go to UCF.

Ok, so I e-mailed them last night to ask what's going on, and this is what they sent back this morning:

"Since you are earning an AA in addition to the high school diploma, there is so much more for us to evaluate and we have not yet completed our review of your admissions application. Please continue to check your application status online for updates.

Thank you,"

I don't think there's that much more to evaluate.... just a college transcript with courses that legally have to transfer to UF. Oh well.

took Dual-Enrollment English and got my rejection on the 13th :(

Ok, so over a week after they said my decision would be available, they FINALLY gave me one.... rejected. Not really surprising. If they wanted to accept me, they would have done it right away, instead of prolong my anxiousness over a week. Thanks a lot, you lying pieces of crap.

Anyway, my stats were:

High School:
4.5 UF GPA
1820 SAT, 11 Essay (all of the categories were within the middle 50%)
SGA officer all four years (president too), tons of volunteer work, varsity sports all four years (bball team captain this year).
Took third place in a national mock trial tournament.... and a bunch of other little honors.

College:
A.A. Degree in Pre-Law
3.9 GPA
4.0 Pre-Prof
Phi Theta Kappa Member

I'll admit that the one part of my application that wasn't great is my SAT. But still, it's well within the middle 50. And I completed 2 years of college in high school with a near perfect GPA. I must say, UF probably has the worst admissions office out there. How I did not get in is beyond me....

Oh well, I was accepted at all of the five other schools I applied to. I applied for political science, by the way. Which is weird, because three of the schools I got into have better political science programs than UF (Minnesota, CU-Boulder, FSU). Bummer. I guess I'll have to settle for a better political science program...
