I have another question that we forgot to ask at orientation. My d ended up having to take 3 evening classes which is fine ( she has some nice chunks of time open in the afternoons) but was wondering if this will limit her participating in other clubs/activities on campus. My older d tells me most clubs start late at her college ... She's done fairly early like 6:45 on two evenings and more like 7 or so the third evening. Nc7777 would this prevent her from doing anything with the off off broadway club? She doesn't mind the evening classes and likes the teachers but really wants to have time to get involved in other things too. Sorry for all the questions that keep coming up but you guys have been a great source of information!

I think it depends on club…D has one that meets late, like 8 pm. She’s also on a planning teams for honors college and it’s in the afternoon. Club tennis has several opportunities to practice and her religious group has a 6:30 pm supper and a lunch time meeting (that she always misses). Lots of intramural are on weekends or pretty late. It’s amazing how many times I talked to her when her friends were meeting to play racquetball at 9 at night D has managed to always have classes in middle of day and always missed job fair, activity fair, farmers market, etc.

There are so many sections of classes and labs that meet until later that I’m sure a lot of organizations have taken that into account. I think someone on this forum is invoved in Off Broadway so hopefully they’ll chime in.

It depends on the club. Being done by 6:45 or 7 would still leave the door open for a lot of different clubs. (She should be thankful she doesn’t have classes ending even later!)

Also, if it’s a smaller club, then she can probably tell them that she has class and they’ll either move the meeting time back or they’ll be fine with her coming in late.

6:45 or 7 would have given me very few issues in my two years at USC and I was Vice-President of one club.

/\ thanks scmom12 and AUgirl… That’s what we thought. The classes arent really that late compared to some evening classes and she doesn’t mind her schedule at all We just wanted to see if it was doable with other things. She was used to going to dance practice every night and every weekend for the past 8 years so she just wants to be sure she has time for something. Sounds like she will. Thanks again!

Specific response about Off Off Broadway. We have different rehearsals Monday - Friday from 5 to 9 pm. Each “number” rehearsal lasts 30 minutes. So if she was to give the officers her schedule of night classes, she could be easily accommodated for!

Thanks Nc7777 … That is great to know. I think she’s really interested in that club as she loves dance and performing in musicals! Will let her know!
