@Darcy123 i’d also say wait on the RD apps. My D got her applications all ready to go but didn’t hit send on them till after the ED decision date - she got in, so they never got sent. Agree with the others that knowing early is such a boon - not just in terms of not stressing over the winter break, but in avoiding that long drawn out waiting process that is the RD decision round.
4 EAs and 1 ED, all done and submitted. D is keeping track of the admission portal emails she receives from each school and double checking to make sure everyone received her scores etc.
Next step: setting up interviews with a couple of RD schools, and filling out a merit scholarship application for an ED2 school if the ED1 school doesn’t come through. Plus, taking the Lit SAT Subject test this weekend for a few of the RD schools. (I assume we will submit the score late to the EA/ED1 school if it’s really high. Otherwise, we won’t bother).
Poor kid asked me to leave her alone for the next two days. She’s got it!
9 EA apps all submitted. 2 supplemental honors college and/or scholarship apps and one video submitted. He still has 3 honors college/scholarship apps for those EA schools to complete - 8 more essays due on 11/1, 11/15, and 12/1. Marking period ends next week and he has exams or essays in all AP classes. It is too much. The bright side is then he is finished and the waiting game begins.
Best of luck to all of your children as they approach the rest stop in this leg of the rat race.
Congratulations! It is a great feeling. We are all in a happy mood this weekend as the final button was clicked on Friday, and the final letter of recommendation showed up as complete in the portal late Friday night (the deadline). DS20 isn’t doing ED anywhere; most of these deadlines were for honors colleges or merit scholarships. At this point he has acceptances into the safety rolling admissions schools, and we will wait to see how his EA application go in January.
Yesterday, my husband and I looked at each other and had a huge sigh of relief that this phase is over. If DS is fortunate enough to progress to semifinalist or finalist for the extra programs then he would have interviews to prepare for, but it feels like the bulk of the work is done.
And- congrats to all the other people writing on this thread. Exciting times ahead.
It was such a relief when my DS20 submitted his 8 applications. We all get our weekends back! He got his first acceptance with merit from his safety school 3 days after submitting! Having that acceptance feels good.
@vamominvabeach congrats to your S and yay to getting your weekends back!
