Reading some bad, some good, and some mixed reviews on the off-campus housing complex. Anyone here ever visited or know anything about the housing? Apparently there are 1,300 USC students living there so I assume at least someone here would have some insight.

Looking for an apartment ...

Post on one of the FB groups (class of xxxx). Try a couple of years.

Here’s a post I posted to another thread re: “Off-Campus Housing” with a link to yet another thread with a lot of very useful information on off-campus housing:

USC has an Off Campus Student Services that offers a wealth of information: <a href=“Off-Campus Living & Neighborhood Relations - Off-Campus Living & Neighborhood Relations | University of South Carolina”>Off-Campus Living & Neighborhood Relations - Off-Campus Living & Neighborhood Relations | University of South Carolina;

For what it’s worth, my S signed a lease at Garnet River Walk with 3 of his friends, and beforehand we talked about the idea of renting a house instead but they all liked the amenities and social aspect of an apartment vs. a house. There are quite a bit of apartments in the area … we went down before he signed the lease and toured 5 or 6 of them and thankfully our favorite was the same as theirs (son & friends).

There’s another related thread I started earlier that has a lot more information on off campus housing- check that out too:
http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/university-south-carolina-columbia/1571988-off-campus-housing-recommendations.html#latest

I want one with a lot of college students and luxury living so I can have that community feel. Don’t really wanna live in a smaller complex or a house. I just want to live with other USC students.

I looked at Garnet River Walk but they fill up EARLY and when I called they were already full.

The ‘house vs. apartment’ comment was related to that previous thread where someone else was weighing those options. My S and friends wanted apartment for the same reasons you mentioned.

Regarding Garnet- or maybe other apartment complexes too, they have individual leases so you could ask about signing on as an individual and they would put you in with another group that has an opening, unless you’re looking with your own roommates already. For example, my son’s group started with 4 guys including him, but one of the guys is not returning due to grades, so they have an open spot in their 4 BR apartment (unless Garnet already filled it but as of 2 weeks ago, the guy was still trying to find someone to take his lease).
