How good are the work out facilities at Princeton? And how easy are they to access for non-athletes. Also, are they in a convenient area that can be easily accessed from residential halls?

Hey future,

I'm a current freshman at Princeton. I'm not an athlete but to work out, I go to Dillon Gym. It has amazing facilities and multiple stories. It looks like a castle from the outside!! Downstairs you can do all sorts of weight-lifting. Upstairs you can use the treadmills, bikes, rowing machines, and many, many more. If I were savvier about the names of these machines, I'd tell you more. Just considering how wealthy the University is, you can trust that the facilities here are top-notch. And anyone can access them (and it's not particularly hard at all). In fact, I find it fun to jog up to the Gym w/ my friends. Hope this helps a bit. :)

the facilities were pretty "lame". the upstairs is the girls' stuff like treadmills and treadclimbers (general aerobics stuff). The downstairs (basement, that is) was the men's stuff...weights, etc. The weight room was pretty old school; it was well-lit, but small, (about two garages I would say) no windows or anything fancy -- all business (which is good). It's a far cry from a state school's gym, but you can take care of all the necessities.

Are you kidding magic? The fact that you refer to "girl's" and "men's" areas of the gym is probably indicative of how much of a loser you are!! Girls definitely use the downstairs equipment and guys use the upstairs. It's much better than an ordinary state school's facilities.

The athletic facilities are definitely well equipped and available to anyone. As has been mentioned, the big Dillon gym in the middle of campus has multiple stories, including squash courts, dance rooms, swimming pool, weight room, and aerobics/treadmill room. And it does look like a huge castle.

Then, there's actually another gym (Jadwin Gym) and other facilities on the east and south ends of campus. I haven't used them before, but it just shows you how accessible everything is!

I've walked to Dillon and Jadwin from Nassau Street in heels on a cold wintry day, and lived to tell the tale. Conclusion: they're accessible :)
