Hi.
Does anyone know what the average pay for work study is at USC? I saw a posting for $9 an hour for an office job and was wondering if I would be able to find anything better.
Thanks!

I had jobs that ranged from $8.50 - $15 an hour. It depends on the position. $8.50 was back in 2006, so I think the average is about $9-$11/hr these days.

if you work with ITS you can start at around $13 but you might have late hours (evening/night)

What is ITS?

Information Technology Services. USC’s IT and Technology Department. They offer 24/hr phone support, hence the higher pay for the later hours.

Hey, I’ve heard that student employees at the University Club Restaurant get paid pretty well too. Does anyone know if it’s a good place to work and if it tends to be busy?

I’m going to be struggling this upcoming year so I need all the spare cash I can get.

Thanks!

That really restricts when you can work though. What if all your classes are at lunch time?

It’s easy to find an office job that pays $10; if your class schedule is full of classes during normal 9-5 office hours, you are best off looking at the 24hr library positions, Campus Cruiser and ITS. All pay decently and have working hours past 5pm.

Just go to the job fair the first week of classes and apply to as many things as you are qualified for. Writing for the DT also pays a small stipend for each article.

Do you know what percentage is taken off for taxes/Social security?
Thanks!

I believe a W2 form is filled out just like for any other job.

My S works at the LA Science Center $10.50/hr. He gets a W-2 but no tax/SS withholding.
