Work Study

These questions are for current JHU students, but if you're not one and can answer my questions, please do.

I'll be enrolling at JHU this fall as a freshman and a substantial amount of my financial package is work study. What's the best way to find a job on campus? Could I start looking now, or do I have to wait until September?
Also, what are the best jobs available?
Do many freshmen work on campus?

Thanks.

Anyone there?

From friends that went/go there, there’s a club fair in the fall where you can see what work study positions are available. I wouldn’t stress about it now. Good positions apparently include working at the library as a check out person or slightly off campus at Center For Talented Youth (CTY), where you basically just put stamps on post cards. And yes like other colleges, you’ll probably find many other freshman doing the same jobs as you.

From what I remember, in the fall of each year there’s a Student Job fair where all the people looking for student workers have tables setup for you to talk to them. There’s also an online database of student jobs. They will likely be sessions during Orientation on how to get jobs and how student employment works, so I wouldn’t worry about it until later down the road.
