Work-study

I didn't see a previous post about this so I thought I would ask a few general questions about work-study.

1) Does the amount of work-study listed on your financial aid report change depending on the salary of the job you take?
2) Are you appointed a specific job, or are you allowed to choose? If the answer is the latter, are there various types of jobs to choose from? I was looking at the positions posted on the financial aid page of the website, and the selection is not very extensive.
3) As a freshman, would it be difficult to do work-study? Although extra money is always great, I don't want work to interfere with school work and my social life. I will be science major and will join a learning community if I get accepted, as well.
4) What were your experiences with work-study?
5) Anything else you can tell me about work-study!

1) no
2) you can go out and look for one it doesn’t have to be on the job listing site, but you’ll have to look and you have to do it quick cuz there are a lot of other kids looking for jobs too.
3) it depends on which job you get – try and get one where you have free time to work on stuff. i’d avoid dining services like the plague it’s more work for the same amount of money other kids get for doing less.
4) awesome, lots of cool perks, made friends there
