Working while Schooling

Was this discussed before? I don't remember. So. On to my point.

Who is going to be working while at school, and at what type of job, and for how many hours a week?

Do any current/prior students have any advice to hand out?

What about doing an unpaid internship AND holding down a paying job?

I just got a job working at my school library. I think my library limits me to 4 hours a day and 20 hours per week. Btw, I go to Santa Monica College.

Campus jobs are probably the easiest since their hours are flexible and little to no experience is needed. I worked as a tutor and worked around 6 hours per week, just enough to pay bills and eat. My advice would be to consider any campus job before looking off campus if you have never worked before.

I just started my job working in the ASUCLA office at the human resources desk at UCLA. Everybody that wants to apply for most campus jobs does so in that office. If you’re interested in a job on campus that would be the place to go, there are few openings now and more will be opening as it comes closer to school starting, come by check it out, or just say hi!

oh, cool! thanks girl. I do think on-campus would provide more flexibility.

If you qualified for work-study, the job listings go up today.

nah boyyyy, goodluck with that though, they have some good positions available.

I worked 40 hours a week while at cc, but now that I’m at UCSD I’m only going to be working 10 hours a week delivering pizzas.

I’ll be working probably 20-25 hours a week off campus. I worked about 35-40 while at jc.

I’m going to work full time from home =O
