World Campus Student Living Near Campus?

Okay so 2020 has been hell and due to health concerns with my family when I didn’t get into Uni Park I chose to do penn state world campus 2+2 rather than pick a new school. I figured everyone was going to be online anyways. I’m now going crazy at home and am looking into getting an apartment in Town.Uni park is the only campus i’m interested in living near. As a world campus student would I be able to get a Student ID or use campus facilities such as the library and shuttles? can I get a meal plan? can i use lion bucks? do I qualify for student housing or apartments meant for students? what are my options? im willing to explore all my options I just really need some good news rn

You wouldn’t qualify for on campus housing, but off campus housing doesn’t care where you are taking classes, or even if you are taking classes. I’m not sure if you’d qualify for commuter meal plans because you aren’t technically a UP student. Your student ID would qualify you for regular PSU discounts.
To answer all of your questions, you should check with your world campus advisor.

thank you so much!

Do you have a roommate? Because apartments for one are really rare here, as well as quite expensive. You could maybe find an apartment meant for more, and pay a fortune?

Apartments within walking distance are also the most expensive, and if you are outside of that distance, a meal plan wouldn’t make sense. But…

…You won’t qualify for housing or a meal plan unless you are a UP student. So you’d be paying full price for meals in the dining halls (anyone can eat there, or live off campus) . You would of course have access to Pattee, etc. You really do want to speak with your World advisor before getting too far down the signing a lease road.

Yes i do have an apartment picked out! I would be rooming with 3 other psu sophomores at the diplomat. Rent is a little under 1,000 a month which seems to match up pretty well with the other stuff I’ve seen

You may want to check into the possibility of using your student ID to purchase Lion Cash, which would give you a 10% discount on dining at on-campus dining commons locations.
