my school doesn't offer ap world history, thus, I'm at a distinct disadvantage for the world history sat IIs. Assuming I choose to take the test, can someone recommend a book or course to help me get above a 750?

It's multiple-choice, so you shouldn't be at too much of a disadvantage. I'm also looking for a good WH sat2 book... anyone have any suggestions?

Well, I had used my Princeton Review AP World History review book for the exam and got a 770. The questions are similar, probobaly a little easier on the SATII. The only problem with using the AP review book is I'm pretty sure that the SATII focuses more on European history than the AP exam.

are the questions similiar to the the multiple choice questions on the AP exam? harder or easier? more specific or more general trend questions?

Kaplan puts out a good review book w/ sample tests, etc.

My son took it last year and also got a 770.

His school did not offer a specific course/prep either. If you have 2 or 3 years of euro and or world history and study from the book (which includes review chapters w/ timelines, charts, definitions, etc.), you should be fine.

This is a compilation of 85 questions and answers from the December 2005 test. It's probably the best available sample of the style of questions asked (the Real SAT II book gives a very old and somewhat unrepresentative version).

on any given administration, 65-75% of the WH subject tes is Euro, so kids who take AP Euro are in great shape. S scored a WH-800 after completing AP Euro, with no prep.

bluebayou: That's inaccurate information. According to the College Board:

[quote]
Geographical Material Covered Approximate Percentage of Test
Europe 25
Africa 10
Southwest Asia 10
South and Southeast Asia 10
East Asia 10
The Americas (excluding the United States) 10
Global or Comparative 25

I took World History and my friend got a 4 on the AP yet a 800 on the SATII while I got a 5 on the AP and only a 770. His strength was Euro since he took a course over the summer so study the European stuff more than the other stuff.

I don't mean to post incorrect info, its just what my son's teacher reported (he's an AP reader for CB). I assumed was correct since my S did so well o the WH test and our school does not offer a WH class. Also, don't forget, it was the Euros who were exploring and trading around the world, so AP Euro touches on a lot non-Euro areas.

The core APEH course doesn't cover the rest of the world in enough detail really to capture what this SAT II is looking for; good APEH teachers, including presumably your son's, will often go beyond the essentials and teach in more depth information on the rest of the world. However, this is not true of all APEH classes, so you should be careful in relying just on that AP class to prepare for this exam.

just study your notes from last year's world geography & history. and read a book. im using rea...again. i dont know i just like to overprepare even though i suck at mc tactics. there's always 2 choices that are both politically correct - so what do they want us to do? read their minds...sheesh.
