World History SAT

For those of you who've taken it, how hard was it?.. What preparation would you recommend?.. Also, how big was the curve on it?

i would like to know this also, as I am taking the test in June.

It was hard, but nothing you can't handle. I took it right after AP euro and only reviewed the Barons book a little. I got a 730; Granted, that isn't great on CC, but it isn't bad either. If you study or took AP world you will be beastly on this test.

Any other opinions? I'm also taking this in a couple weeks.

Thanks for the reply.. I took AP World, and didn't get as much information someone typically would get from it.. Is the SAT II review book enough?

Edit: Why'd you take it after AP Euro? Was the test heavily based on European History?

Yea, barrons is fine. As for your second question, I had no SAT IIs so I thought I needed it. Euro was a little part on it, so don't stress about it. There were like 10 euro questions out of 95, but a lot on prehistoric civilizations.

Alright.. Thanks alot :)

yeah.. i just took a practice test cus im taking it in june as well. i got a 700.. need to study more. theres just too many detailed questions.

Okay, well does anyone know if there's a curve on it?

The best curve ever! I think you can get 16 wrong and still get a 800.

Personally, I'm just reading Barrons AP WH. It's notorious for being overdetailed, but that's what you want on the SAT II. Then, I'm taking 3 official practice exams.

According to my practice book, one test you can get 17 wrong and still get 800, the other you can get 20 wrong. Very good curve.

lol I'm doing the exact same study plan james!

Meet you in August w/ our 800s =D

i'm also reading my barrons AP book

I took the course/AP this year and i'm confident i'll get at least a 750... I'm really hoping for the 800.

The only thing is, I heard it's less of a problem knowing the material than it is actually finished 95 questions in an hour

lol 18 wrong and 800??? thats so not true lol...on both sparknotes/kaplan/college board it's around a -9 raw score (which is like 7 wrong) before you drop to 790. I'm taking the history sat also and im not great at history but there is SOOOOOOOOO much you have to remember (i use the kaplan book)

It is right, I took the test remember? And if you say you got the collegeboard book then check the curve, you'll see who's right...

^ i apologize lol i was talking about us history...but wow are you serious? world history has a freaking -20 wrong = 800 scale?!!?!!?

yeah it's great, one of the better ones. the curve makes all the difference, because it's so broad

Haha, hopefully! For the motivated people, it's good to take AP/SAT subject tests that a lot of people take for the first time (Human Geo, Euro, WH, etc.) There's a better chance that the curve will be generous. SAT II WH has such a good curve for that reason; also, the time management does factor in a lot.

Yeah World History has an awesome curve.

I took it after the AP World exam and got an 800 after having been a complete lazy bum for the first two weeks of summer- I didn't care enough to study. So I think that the curve should be fairly generous.
