World in 2056, junior version

This is copied from the Parent Cafe.

What do you think the world will be like in 2056? (Will people live to 150? Will robots take over the world? Will we be all dead by then due to a nuclear war?)

I’ll start:

Appearance of babies can be controlled by genetic engineering. Height, weight, eye color, skin tone, you name it.

People will live to 120.

AIDS and cancer cured.

First human being born on the moon.

Nuclear-powered vehicles, which can fly.

(It’s only 50 years. So be realistic.)

^Have you seen GATTACA?

Nuclear war in <10 years. Sorry folks.

GATTACA!!! Every nerd's favorite movie. :D

2. People will live to 120.
3. AIDS and cancer cured.

Do you realize that you're opting for a giant population boom? AIDS and cancer are both on the top 5 killers of humans list. If eliminated...damn.

Man on mars, but still no permanant bases outside earth orbit
No viruses cured, but maybe close to an AIDS vaccine
China/Inida pressured by the world community to cut down on greenhouse emissions
World so desprate for non-air-polluting energy that nuclear power comes back
Israel gives back Gaza (again) and West Bank, Palistinian state created, Palistinian state invades Israel, Israel takes land back.

We watched gattaca for biology this year XD

I severely doubt we'll have nuclear powered vehicles in 50 years. Definitely electric/hydrogen/etc, but I don't think governments would trust putting nuclear power directly into the hands of civilians...

Gattaca is a very good movie, and I think it portrays what could become of this world in 50 years.

Nuclear powered vehicles for public-use aren't very safe BTW.

world war three

Phased-plasma rifle in the forty watt range.

^ SWEET

I think we're looking more into populating Mars than the Moon
And we have electric/hydrogen cars now...nuclear could be the future...never know, you ever see those movies made in the 50's and 60's detailing the life in year 2010? haha...we're all probably being farfetched

We have electric/hydrogen hybrid cars now...by 2050 though, it should be completely electric/hydrogen fuel cell based.

ah, true true

clap on computers

^ Bad idea. -_-;

World War 3. It won't be against Europe or Asia though. it will be against the middle east for oil. Cars by then will get 2 mpg, due to the 28 foot long Hummer H9.

And maybe war in Africa. Probably war in Africa. (Worse than currently.)

^^ A war for Afrikaner-Boer freedom.

A war in Africa? I'm trying to find the relevance of that on the world stage.

A change in interest rate by the Fed has a bigger impact than a war in Africa.

Killer zombies in shopping malls!
(too much Dead Rising. lol. This game is sooooooooooooooooooooooooo fun)

A nuclear war, for sure. Iran's already set in motion the development of nuclear weapons. It's only a matter of time. The U.S. needs to definitely affect the mid-east. Yet we are only fanning the flames of radicalism through our support of Israel. It's truly disheartening to see how indifferent many Americans are to this.
