Harvard is ranked higher than Cornell and Princeton?

And Yale is higher than Columbia?

Why are there no middle eastern countries there? I know for a fact that one university in Iran is the #1 for electrical engineering.

Would anyone really trust "some site" without references?

lol how'd Harvard get so high on the list??

Wow, go CMU. Ranked better in the world for engineering than in the US alone.

the above 2007 world rankings by subject "Top 100 in Engineering and IT", conducted by Times Higher Education Supplement, THES. Methodology centered around peer reviews/assesments with emphasis on international aspects; int'l faculty/students. Peer review seems the most important proportion of their weightings as quoted in their summary report, "in the absence of more precise statistical data on activities such as teaching and more up-to-date comparison of research, it (peer review) has become the central element of the World University Rankings. It is, after all, a matter of opinion which are the best universities in the world. Who better to ask than the people who work in them?"

of course, many feel this is open to discussion and debate.

Also just noticed this...

81 Pennsylvania University (USA)
90= Penn State University (USA)

[/quote]

If Penn State hadn't made that list, it would have been might confusing if they were talking about "The University of Pennsylvania" or "Pennsylvania State University."

Not to mention that it's still U Penn and not Penn U.

2008 the new world ranking cmu is #7.

I would disregard any ranking that shows schools like Northwestern and UCSB ranked under UMass in engineering.
