The College Board told me that even though they've received complaints about the length of the SAT, and the desire for more breaks, that there will still only be one break during the test.

Can someone share with the board what they've learned is the absolute best snack for the SAT? A Zone Bar? Whey Protein drink, and complex carbs? Pure protein powder drink, complex carbs, and sugar? Please tell us what your $300 an hour tutor told you.

Granola bar. Dates are great (the sugar dissolves slowly in your system, so there is no Crash)

You are technically not allowed to eat or drink in the testing room. The only time you are allowed to eat is during the five minute break, which is probably when you'll be in the bathroom too. Most proctors will not kick you out for eating or drinking, but just make sure you aren't the first one to do it and test the rule.

I had granola bars and chocolate soymilk... the only problem is five minutes isn't very long, so it has to be something you can eat really quickly.

My best sat snack is a bottle of water. During those breaks I always go to the bathroom and strech. A banana is probably the best thing in case you feel hungry.

I eat granola bars (the kiddy Chewy ones) and cereal (Life..haha I'm such a kid). Plus I always eat a good breakfast on SAT days (eggs + toast) because I always get ridiculously hungry if I don't eat every 2-3 hours. I had a piece of chocolate once, it was pretty good and I don't think the sugar affected me or anything..just eat something that will fill you up quickly.

With 3 readbulls, your mind will be all over the place but on those reading passages. In addition to making you active, which is good since you will be sitting for about 4 hours, caffeine will also cause you to be in a hyperactive state, meaning that it will be difficult to focus when your brain is rushing.

I would not recommend candy either because the sugar also makes you active for a brief moment, but it subsequently provokes metabolic slowdown and , hence, drowsiness. Also, I have found from personal experience that once you get the sweet taste of chocolate or whichever sweet in your mouth, you will be craving for more and more. In my case, this will result in me trying to read the questions and "silently" thinking about taking another bite on the side. Again, I consider this a negative factor during the SAT, but that does not mean you shouldn't do it; many of my friends eat chocolate and drink energy beverages and have no problems whatsoever. I rather stick with the bland, boring and bleak, though--bananas all the way!

Smoke a ciggerette before the test. and during the break if you can. Nicotine calms you down and helps you focus. (this is what my Honors Anatomy teacher told me!! shock)

I've heard that studies say that Chocolate essence increases one's concentration. Im pretty sure eating some before testing would help for some people. Small Kisses or Hershey's Bite Size would do great. Though i don't get anything for SATs. Any type of candy or food during the test would distract my concentration.
