Worried about getting accepted. :(

So I'm a junior in high school and I'm getting prepared to fill out my application for Texas A&M University. I'm planning on becoming a part of the Corps of Cadets. The high school coursework I've done is better than most have done in my school.

I'm currently in the top 10% of my class. I was the editor-in-chief this past school year and I will also be editor this year. I'm involved in clubs such as Beta Club, Star Teens, and I'm also going to be playing on the newly-founded high school girl's soccer team.

My ACT score was a 26.. I've taken all honors classes.

But, frankly, I'm worried about getting accepted. Maybe my extracurricular activities aren't as abundant as they should be? I've spent much of the past two years in school working on our school's publication and I'm planning on majoring in Public Administration.

Any ideas on what I should do?

If you are in the top 10%, and you get your application in early, you should be an automatic admit, so no need to worry. Even with the modification to the Top 10% law, it is predicted that most top 10% applicants should still be able to get in to the Texas university of their choice.

from TAMU [Tips for Applying](http://admissions.tamu.edu/freshmen/gettingin/tipsApplying/default.aspx)

and specifically [Visit Campus](http://admissions.tamu.edu/freshmen/gettingin/tipsApplying/visitCampus.aspx)

If you’re top 25% and can get your ACT up to a 27, you’ll qualify for auto admit unless things change in the next year or two.

Looks like beegee is from Tennessee. I thought the top 10% rule only applied to Texas residents.

Top 10% only applies to Texas residents. I was automatically admitted due to top 10%. You’ll more than likely be accepted, unless you have a low GPA or something.

Top 25%…not top 10%. A&M has an auto admit rule for top 25% + a certain SAT/ACT score. I’m not sure if it applies to out of state applicants though.

It IS top 10% if you don’t consider SAT/ACT scores. I know that in Texas if you graduate in the top 10% of your senior class that you are automatically accepted into any state university. The top 10% thing only applies to Texas students, but the Top 25% + SAT(1300)/ACT(30) score applies to anyone.

In our school system the highest GPA achievable is a 4.0.

Through my previous three years in high school I have maintained a 4.0 average and I’ve been in the top 10% for the past two years. I was 3rd my sophomore year and 7th my junior year. I expect to be in the top ten my senior year as well.

Just retake your ACT and aim for a 30 or try the SAT and aim for a 1300 M/CR. Looks like you won’t drop out of the top 25%, so just worry on your tests…

i would think your willingness to be a girl in the corp may be a bump for you as well.

i don’t think you have to worry too much about getting accepted, but a higher test score wouldn’t hurt.
