Hello College Confidential Community,

I'm an undergraduate student in my second semester of my freshman year. I aspire to one day get into medical school and have a profession in the medical field. I know it's not an easy field considering most of my cousins are all in medical schools already and they are all geniuses. I Know what I have to do and what grades I need which is why I made this thread.

First semester of freshman year I received a mere 2.75 GPA and I am very discouraged to still go into the medical field. My parents keep comparing me to my cousins and they expect so much of me and I just want to make them proud. I have always wanted to go into the medical field.

So, what are my chances of still achieving my dream of becoming a doctor? I'm determined to work harder this semester to achieve that 3.5 GPA. Will that be enough? If I continue at this pace of 3.4+ GPA, will I still be able to attain my dream or will this 2.75 GPA be a stigma to me?

My grades were:

Biology 1: B
Chemistry 1: B
Calc 1: B
Bio Lab 1: B
Chem Lab: B
Greek Mythology: C-

Please give me advice. :( I'm freaking out.
My dad actually said .. I broke his heart when he saw that GPA. He has very high expectations for me.
