my gpa on the application when i applied was 3.86
this senior year, first semester i got 3.45
this second semester, however, i’m expecting a gpa below 3.0, which, according to cal poly’s admission, my admission offer will be rescinded.
there’s also a possibility of me getting a D (or maybe two). but let’s say this won’t happen, as long as my gpa drops too much i’m out?
this year my classes are way harder than the years before (never got a C before until this second semester there probably will be) + i have senioritis
and also, if they do rescind, when will they let me know about it, i’ve heard people don’t find out the sad news until july. that means i waste my summer not doing community college courses / preparing for 4-year college, for nothing
You need to do two things. Call admissions and find out your options. Then pull yourself out of your nose dive. If you lose this opportunity for “senioritis” you might never get it back. Good luck.
Work your ass off and get your GPA back on track. Just a few more weeks of work, and you’ll be going to college.
That said, keep all grades at a C or above and your overall GPA from dropping to 0.5 below your average when you were accepted (so try to get >3.0). It’s not worth it to lose your shot at Cal Poly, one of the best schools in the nation, simply because you didn’t really want to do work.
ok so i’m graduating (high school) tomorrow and after doing some thinking, i’m confident that i passed all my classes with a C or higher. however, the GPA may or may not be above 3 (I think at most I will get 3)
but then that estimate is based on my second semester only, with 6 classes, only 5 of which falls in to A-G requirements, the leftover ‘class’ being TA. and also that is an unweighted GPA. so is that what the GPA they’ll take or…?
basically my question is when they say GPA has to be 3 or above, what GPA are they talking about? is it the one shown on my transcript? if so, weighted or unweighted? is it combined all years or just senior year or just second semester of senior year? does TA count?
i couldn’t find this information anywhere on Cal Poly’s (or any other official universities’) website, it’s really weird how they don’t clearly inform me of what they mean. either that or maybe there’s a “standard” GPA and when somebody says GPA i should understand where to look for that number
What did they tell you when you called them? You did call them didn’t you? If you wait and find out you got rescinded, you will have ZERO options. I know I was being a scoche tongue in cheek, but you need to call ASAP!
