The description of the redesigned SAT is making me nervous. It seems like it's going to be a lot harder and will focus more on things that I'm not as good at. I'm currently a sophomore, and I'll be in the first group of people to take the new test, so I have no idea what to expect. I feel like this is unfair because we (my graduating class) won't know what the test is going to be like until we take the new PSAT. We'll also be lacking studying resources because it's going to be the first PSAT which will determine national merit scholars, and how will we know what SAT scores top colleges will expect?

Is it possible for me to take the current SAT in December 2015 or sometime before that? Could I take the PSAT, and then take the current SAT that same semester if it seems like I didn't do well on the PSAT? My main concern is that if I take the redesigned SAT, I'll do worse on it than I would have on the current SAT. Could I also take both versions of the SAT? The problem with this is that I'm worried I'll do worse on the redesigned SAT than the current SAT, and colleges will look at the worse score.

Does anyone else graduating in 2017 have these concerns?
