Tomorrow is the SAT and all this stressin' over the test has led me to pose some very anxious questions to myself. I'm a junior this year, and my spring schedule has been packed with class work, varsity tennis, and studying for AP tests, etc, and I've had much less time to study for this SAT than I had originally planned for. That said, how big a deal is it if tomorrow I bomb the test (don't get an optimal score), and then retake it once or even twice next fall before applying (if I'm looking at trying to get into ivies)? I'm terrified that an ugly score and then a better score will just look plain bad to admissions committees! I always have the ACT to fall back on, but I'm just worried that the discrepancies between scores will not work in my favor.

Any thoughts? Is anyone else in the same situation? How bad is it to test fall of senior year if you do poorly as a junior?

Any thoughts are really appreciated! I'm so frightened for tomorrow...

Don’t be so worried. Even if you had studied the most you could have, you probably would have taken the test another time. So try to relax, don’t think about it too much, get a good sleep/breakfast, and do the best on this test. Think of it as just a “guidance” test to tell you what areas you should really focus on.

Im taking it tomorrow too, so good luck. Hope I helped

Thanks, that’s really good advice. I just mostly feel very guilty, because I have stacks of barely-touched prep books and no time to do them. My real concern is if a bad score tomorrow and a pretty good score later is a detriment…

Depending on whether your desired colleges use Score Choice, you’d never have to report tomorrow’s tests results if they’re bad. Relax. Go to bed.

You can retake it!!! RELAX!!! it’s just a practice SAT(even though it’s really not) because the only time that you really have to be serious about is your 2nd time.just try to get used to the real SAT so that you can do MUCH better on the second one.

I stressed on my Jan test and panicked on the first three sections, score hit dramatically. I went out with my friends the day before the Mar test and relaxed, my score went up 210 points.

I feel ya. Its hard being a junior…especially this time of year. My books are just the same. I have so much on my plate right and want to do well in everything…im just scared that “what if” something doesnt turn out right.

I just came back from subject tests. They were okay. Def not “easy” but guess we’ll find out soon enough. Best of luck to you as well!

Remember that this board will give you a very distorted view of the real world. It’s as if the only winners in life are graduates of Harvard Medical School and everyone else should just shoot themselves already.

Relax, I went to an undergrad school that isn’t even in the Princeton 368 book and I make a lot of money and love my work. I can assure you I’m not the only one who can say that.
