Worried about TULANE acceptance (low GPA?)

I'm a junior with a B average. My grades last year were terrible due to personal issues (got one D) Am I doomed or can I make up for it with stellar SAT and ACT scores? I have great ECs - will do anything to get into Tulane.

One of the nice things I've always liked about Tulane is that THEY LIKE people who really want to go there. I cannot speak from experience (I handled admissions for one of the graduate programs, not undergrad), but I don't think one bad grade will get you - especially if there were some extenuating circumstances.

Now -was the bad grade in an area you wish to pursue or in another area? And were subsequent grades in that subject area better - in other words, is it rather clear that the bad grade was an anomaly?

@ Tulane, SATs >>> GPA

The grade was in Algebra II/Trig Honors and it was an anomaly because all my other math grades are As and Bs. I took a math course over the summer at community college and earned an A in it. Can I iprovide community college grades too?

I really have my heart and mind fixed on Tulane now. I'm the first to go to college in my family so I'm excited.

I don't think one bad grade with hurt you that much. As long as it wasn't toward what you want to major in I think you're fine.

Okay, I'm always just worried because I'm not a straight A student like everyone else seesm to be on this site.
