This is one of my top schools, but I haven’t gotten a phone call and I’m sort of nervous. Do I still have good chances of getting in? Also, I put Math as my major and Bio as my alternate…I really regret that b/c I thought it would be harder to get in for bio. Could I still transfer?
What is your capped weighted and uncapped weighted UC GPA (10-11 only)? Course rigor? Your GPA looks good from what I can see but SAT score is a bit low. I think you have a pretty good chance of getting in.
@wormholes How do I calculate that?
10th grade
English 2H A (both semesters)
Spanish 3 A (both semesters)
WHAP B (both semesters)
Pre-Cal H B (both semesters)
Chemistry H A (both semesters)
11th
English 3H A (both semesters)
Spanish 4H A (both semesters)
APUSH A (both semesters)
AP Bio (both semesters)
Grades for AP Bio? Any a-g summer courses from after 9th grade to before 12th grade?
Btw did you take the SAT Math Level 2 Subject Test?
Just wanted to pop in to say that you shouldn’t be nervous if you didn’t get a call from UCSD. They only call the top 30% of applicants that they’re targeting for Regents and historically unrepresented groups (and Chancellors I think). You’re probably still in the running and have a good chance at getting in!
@BunnyBlue As in bio both semesters sorry I cut off and also and A in Calc AB both semesters
And a 720 on math level II subject test
Okay. I calculate that your UC GPA is 4.2. (You had 20 semesters, in which 16 were A and 4 were B. So that’s 4x16 + 3x4 = 64 + 12 = 76. Plus 8 extra points allowed for honors/AP = 84. Then divide by 20 semesters and you get 4.2)
@BunnyBlue thanks! Wel I got rejected… so I guess all that worrying is for nothing. All my time and effort was dor nothing. Although I’m not giving up hope, it’s probably even less likely for me to get into UCLA…sooooo idk what I’m gonna do
@worriedsenior713 You could try appealing! I had a lower GPA and test scores than you (4.48, 1920, and tons of ECs), but I think it was the essays that got me accepted. Since I got in and they don’t claim to accept by department, you may be able to appeal and get in. UCLA is supposed to come out next weekend, so good luck. I’m waiting too and I’m not sure if I’ll get in…agh!
You have good stats. Sorry you got rejected. My S2 didn’t get his CS major, so that was as good as a rejection also. Looks like he may be getting CS at UCLA (from a “likely email”). So a person can get a rejection from UCSD and still get into and get their major at UCLA.
@BunnyBlue What is the “likely email”? and do you know if UCs talk to each other?
The “likely email” is what I call the invitation to the Engineering Open House. It is by invitation only and is sent early to a portion of those who applied to majors in the UCLA engineering school. In past years, people who got the invitation prior to the regular decision day reported that they were accepted. I believe that after regular decision, UCLA sends out more invitations to those accepted.
I’ve read here on CC that the UCs don’t talk to each other about their applicants.
I highly doubt that the UCs talk to one another about their applicants, considering each UC gets more than 30,000 applicants (Berkeley getting over 85,000). There would be way too many to keep track of and each college is their own independent university. They admit people based on their own criteria and spots available.
You should definantly appeal! I got accepted with a 1200 on my SAT with 4.2 gpa at highschool and 4.0 at my community collge. You should definantly appeal and do not loose hope!!!
I think I’m gonna wait until I hear back from the other UCs until I appeal, but I’ll definitely make it an option, thanks! @dayannaortiz6
