Thanks in advance!

What exactly are you worried about, Nakane? I'd say your scores/gpa look pretty solid for an in-state public school application. Don't get me wrong, UT is well respected and a great deal but their acceptance rate is in the upper 40 percent range. Presuming you've taken some of the most rigorous courses available to you, I'm not thinking there's a big problem here. Why do attribute your lower-than-stellar class rank to transferring from NY?

You'll get in.

ColoradoKid: because in NY we had different grading scale and we had two academic
levels: Regular and Advanced. so even if I had gotten all A's in all
advanced classes, that would be the same as all B's in my new school in
Texas, which has three academic levels: Regular, Advanced, and
Honors/AP. Get my point? :)

you are in.

I agree. I also think you're in.

bump please =) Need more assurance, haha

I'm in the same boat as you. when did you send your app in?

So if i'm top 18% from one of the better high schools in texas and have a 1420 SAT (800v 620m) and SAT IIs all in the 700s I should be ok?

son. good Houston public. top 19.5% 770 V, 680 math, one test. Better grades last 3 semesters. Liberal arts. Semi-desperate to go to UT.

Sounds like UT will have a hell of a class. I hope he's in it.

There are numerous people applying from my school that are around the top 15% with 1400+ SAT scores and exeptional ECs. Pretty much everyone applies to UT, even if it isn't among their top choices (myself included). It will be interesting to see the admissions stats for this year.

Nakane? you go to the woodlands HS right?

Can't be - The Woodlands doesn't do academic decathlon. My guess is a western suburb.

At son's school in Texas non-top-10'ers are getting accepted in the last few days. One kid top 40%, 1490 SAT, the other top 25% 1290. Both liberal arts.

Ah. So it's not outrageous to suspect they won't get to the non-ranked or out of state students applying to the more selective schools until a little later?
