Cutting it short, uiuc is my dream school and I am planning to apply in the matse department. However my current term examination marks are not going to be great this time, judging by the way I have performed in the exam… Although my overall GPA wouldn’t be affected much by these scores, yet my school sends these scores as transcripts… So do you think I might still have a go at uiuc, or would it judge me on the basis of my recent scores and reject me??
Go to the Common Data Set, Section C for UIUC and compare your stats against those of the admitted students. That’s what they are looking at, along with the guidance counselor’s LOR, which explains how rigorous your academic program was compared to what the school offered and what other students there typically take. Your specific exam results are generally not part of that equation even if the info shows up on the transcript. Might is subtly bias them if they see it? Possibly, but unlikely. One test score is too minor on it’s own to make or break a decision. It’s the gestalt that matters here.
