worried =(

What if I have pretty decent grades, and a really high sat / act score. But I didn't start getting "involved" in any real ec's (excluding academic ones) (ec's meaning sports and things like journalism) until junior year. What would my chances be for getting into any UC school.. per say..UCLA for instance. ?. Thanks in advance.. oh and btw. I really want to get into ucla.

care to give us your stats? we wont be able to help with this little information provided..

oh.sorry..forgot about that. well.. currently i'm going onto being a junior. and I have a 3.7 unweighted gpa. and i also qualify for this honorary merit notation for having a high psat score. but other then that. i don't really have any ecs. and I plan on taking on alot of ecs by my junior year (this year sept. 2006). ec's including sports and things like journalism. (btw. I only have notable awards in academics but nothing else really) I'm worried about one of two things. 1) I'm scared I might end up at a community college for my "poor" perfomance my soph. year. and 2) I'm scared of the competition I have to face when the time comes to send in my applications.

Unweighted 3.7 and a commended PSAT score (hopefully saying you will get a high SAT score) will get you far beyond CC.

Make sure you apply to a couple safeties. I'm sure you'll get into UCSB, UCD, and UCI if your SAT is that high and 3.7 unweighed is not that bad.

This is what I call college confidential syndrome.

You will definitely do better than a community college, so continue to strive for your best. Take a few practice tests for the SAT to ensure you can maintain your PSAT (or maybe bring it up) and make sure to focus next year. Try to find EC's that match your interest and you will enjoy them much more and probably spend more time doing them! If you spend your time wisely, you will be well off on your way to a great application!
