Worrying that college might rescind acceptance :(

Hi,

I got accepted into VTech and is now worrying that they might reject the offer. My senior grades have been going down and is lowered than my junior year. Last year I got a 3.73 unweighted GPA and that’s what is shown on the application. This year, I think I will got a 3.00 (unweighted, 3.5 if weighted). I have a C in AP Calc which is why I’m being so anxious, my offered major is computer science, which is math focused.

I read that college will not just outright reject the offer for one C. But the thing is, my GPA dropped pretty hard and I have a C is a core class, and my application is not that strong in terms of grades and test scores (my extra-circular activities stand out a bit).

So my question is has anyone been in a similar situation and still got in? How are my chances? It is the end of the school year so I don’t think I could do to change my grades significantly. Last year I have no AP classes and my GPA is 3.73, this year I have 2 APs and my GPA is 3.00 unweighted, 3.5 if weighted, so I don’t know if VTech will account the change is GPA due to harder classes?

Thank you.

I don’t believe you will be rescinded but that is a heavy drop. Did you slack or was it difficult? If it was difficult, I think VT might be able to understand that.

I would stay both. The AP classes were harder than I have expected and part of me was also slacking off.

I think that you should just try as hard as you can to keep your other grades up, so at least your GPA can be as high as it can. As far as I know, they won’t take back your acceptance.

I don’t think you will be rescinded, but I’d work hard to bring up the Calculus – not just for the grade but because you really do want to get a solid grasp of the material before college. Note that typically colleges only see final grade (but you can check with your HS to see how their transcripts are).

One poster states “you to them are a source of funding for four years” so it would take a major change in your grades to be revoked. I believe that’s true here.
