Worth a retake?

So I got a 35 on my first ACT test.

Breakdown:

English: 36
Mathematics: 34
Reading: 35
Science: 35

(Weird Math score, I'm currently taking multivariable calculus, took Calc BC freshman year)

Anyways, I just went in and took it, didn't even see the format of the test before.

Do you guys think I should take it again and shoot for the 36? Of course, I'll look over a book or two if I do this.

I think you definitely have a shot at a 36 if you get to understand the test better and maybe take some practice tests. I think you should retake it.

^I agree, you should retake if you’re sure of a 36 next time (after practice).

Why would you not?

Btw, you might have scored lower in Math than you expected because you might have lost familiarity with more basic topics like Algebra, Geometry, etc.

As to why I would not - well, I am a Junior and I have APs and stuff. Additionally, I want to get out to Africa this summer to work on my Swahili.

However, the 36 looks very very promising. I guess I’ll flip a coin tonight with my family and see what the result is.

LightSource - I also think this might be the case, I would definitely go over basic math.

ACTSeeker - Thank you, if I do decide to retake it, I will definitely look at some practice tests and the like.

Take it in June before summer starts ; ). Good luck!
