Worth applying to engineering, or should I stick wlith L&S?

So I'm a senior, and I was originally planning on applying to engineering at Cal, but I'm worried that my SAT Math score is way too low....if I don't apply for engineering, I'll probably just apply as a science major in L&S. Here are my stats:

*White Female from CA
*Interesed in Mechanical Engineering
*3.76 UW GPA from a very good private school; I don't know my UC weighted GPA yet, but it should be pretty high because my only "bad" grades (some Bs) were in first semester freshman year, so my UW would be almost a 4.0 without those.
*SAT I: 800 CR / 790 W/ 690 M (that's my biggest concern....)
*SAT IIs: 740 Lit / 780 Spanish / 760 Math (better than the SAT reasoning, I think)
Taking Physics in November, expecting to do pretty well
*Good ECs, but nothing super math/science-y. I attended an engineering summer program, though, so I might write about that for my personal statement.
*Have had mostly As with 1 or 2 A-s in math and science throughout high school
*Senior schedule:
-English (counted as Honors by UCs)
-Chinese II
-AP Comp Sci AB (A- at the quarter)
-AP Calc AB (A at the quarter)
-AP Physics C: Mech (A- at the quarter)
I took a regular non-honors physics class last year; that was the highest level I could take at the time.

My stats seem a lot lower that those of the people here who got accepted to engineering...should I not bother? Will I have significantly higher chances in L&S?

Thank you!

If you apply as an L&S you’ll most likely get in but you’ll have to keep 3.3+ GPA your first year to be able to switch to CoE.

apply for engineering so you wont have to do so may breadth courses. I personally know some physics majors who now regret applying to L&S and one of them is even preparing to transfer to MechE.

The amount of breadth difference between CoE and L&S is only 1-3 courses. It would not be something to work about

I think you have a good shot at L&S. COE might be risky…
