OK so as time winds down before the app early decision due date I'm considering taking the ACT (yes I know I'm late so I'll have to pay the late fee) but am worried that I might do poorly. Because I'll be taking it in October, I have to send the scores directly to Penn. I already have a pretty decent SAT score and plan to submit that plus my 3 SAT IIs but if I choose to take that ACT cause I hear it's easy as pie and get like 3(.14), am I screwed? Will Penn care that my ACT sucks even with my nice SAT scores? And will other colleges know that I took it if I don't send them my scores because Penn knows?

Penn, if memory serves, will only look at your best scores, across the tests, so if your percentiles are better from the SAT’s, then they’ll use that, regardless of how your ACT performance was. That way, you’ve really got no reason not to at least try for the ACT.
