Worth it Spending the Night at SPOP?

<p>Hey guys, I live like 20 minutes from UCI and was wondering if it was worth sleeping in the dorms? Like will I miss anything important or anything? Also, are there usually any parties that night? Thanks in advance</p>

<p>i heard that if you do spend the night at uci during SPOP you get to meet more people than just spending the day there. I live like 40 minutes away, so i decided to spend the night there. But even if you don’t spend the night, i guess you’ll have a chance to meet people there anyway during the day. so i don’t think there will be a tremendous difference.</p>

<p>I went to spop 1 and it is worth it. You meet a lot of people, get to know the campus, and the staffers really help with advice with taking classes and transitioning into college. Spending the night is worth it because they do a lot of fun activities at night which I won’t say so I don’t ruin the surprise. The day is boring though cuz all they do is talk and everyone just naps lol! And stay for the talent show!!! It’s good!!!</p>

<p>it seems like it was mandatory just until this yr or sumthing. cuz ppl from last yr that i know said they tried to get out of it but they couldnt…
but idk that’s wat i was told.</p>

<p>It shouldn’t be mandatory… all the information you can receive by just setting up an appointment with a counselor from your dep’t.</p>

<p>From what I can remember… it felt exactly like a Church retreat… for those who know what I’m talking about.</p>

<p>Overnight was the best part of my SPOP experience… It was really fun. I ended up staying up most of the night talking/hanging out in the living room with my SPOP staffer and like 6 other people and we all ended up sleeping there.</p>

<p>Or… if you meet the right people that live nearby or already have apartments set up, I’m sure you can find a party.</p>
