Worth retake or SuperScore sufficeint?

Hi everyone,

I'm currently a senior. I first took the SAT in May and scored 2160 (680 CR 800 M 680 W) and just received my scores for my November sitting (740 CR 730 M 710 W) and scored 2180. My SuperScore therefore is 2250. My top schools are Dartmouth and Williams and Yale, though I don't having any expectations. I've looked at the admission stats for each of those schools but can't really read between the stats (as in, below which scores do applicants require a hook and above which are they competitive). I am hookless (white male from middle-income family). My essays are average to above-average. Anyhow, I was wondering whether I should retake the SAT or if my scores are sufficient as they are? I really would appreciate any feedback! Oh, and my GPA is as high as it can be for my school.

I think it would be best to have above 750 in each section.

Looking at the schools you’re applying to, these scores are sufficient if other parts of your application are outstanding. But if you feel you might face competition, and that your stats aren’t competent enough, do retake, and try to shoot up each score above 750, as mybestshot said. Good luck! :)

If those schools superscore then you should be done.

Well you have an 800 math so obviously don’t bother there. In my opinion you should retake and try to improve, especially your writing score. Without a hook, I’d say you want at least a 2300, maybe 2350, although it really depends. How are your grades?
