I took it November of my junior year and got a composite score that I am thrilled with (2270). However, I am not happy with my math section score (670). I took the Math II subject test and got a 780. If I am applying to Pomona, Williams, Wesleyan, and (potentially) Harvard/Yale/Brown/Stanford, should I retake it? It just seems like a hassle and could be really disappointing if I don't improve my math score. I also am not set on applying to any of the last four, and if I do, they won't really be my top choices.

Well it can’t hurt. If you happen to do worse on the other sections, it’s not problem as most school superscore. I would retake as it’s only going to benefit you.

Given your great subject test score in math, I would say that the answer is obvious.

Take it again.

But study hard for it.

My son raised his math score from a 660 to a 700 with zero studying.

If you have time and your SAT II’s are high I say go for it!

use Dr. Chungs SAT math book, you should be scoring 800 on the real test if study diligently and finish it

Thanks for the replies! Is there any chance the colleges would overlook the 670 as an abberation and value the 780 subject test more?
