Would a D/F sophomore year ruin acceptance chance? Can someone "chance" me

I had honors freshman year and got straight A's.

my grades this year consist of:
0 AP Art History- A
1. AP European History-A-
2. Algebra 2H- D-/F
3. Spanish 2H- A+
4. Chemistry- A+
5. P.E.- A
6. English 2H- A+

I'm extremely frightened that that one math grade will ruin my chances for acceptance :[ and I know for sure I'm switching out of honors 2nd semester.

my junior year schedule looks like this and I'm planning on doing well in these since I'm not taking any hard math classes
AP English 3
AP US History
AP Psychology
AP Spanish
Physiology H
Pre-Calculus

my senior year I'm planning on taking
AP Government
AP English 4
AP Bio
AP Stats
AP Calc (if I feel brave lol)

so if I get an A in all of these classes, would it sort of cover up my D in math sophomore year?

EC's that will be done by then (I'm hoping these help me the most)
-100 hours hospital community service
-35 hours temple community service
-community service in India helping underprivileged children living in poverty
-two international internships for jewelry corporations
work experience in retail clothing stores
-6 years tennis
-country club swim team
-President/VP of Business and Entrepreneurship club
-VP of Debate Club
-Commissioner of Key Club
-Sophomore Representative of many other club
I'm planning on taking on more leadership roles junior and senior year.

thanks so much :) I'm so sorry if I'm posting so many threads, but this math thing is really getting to me and my self-esteem

anyone? :[

Do you have summer school in your district? If I were you, I would try getting rid of that D/F in summer school and improving your math grade during second semester and Junior year. One bad grade won’t kill you, but you should try minimizing the damage.

yeah if I end up getting a D or F I’d retake regular algebra 2
would it defer me from colleges though? I’m scared this would make me too bad for UCR too :[

? anyone else lol

For the last time, its gonna hurt you if you don’t do something about it. Go retake the class and fix your grade. Then retake the SAT and keep doing your ECs. One bad grade won’t hurt you in the long run but if USC is your dream school then do everything else you possibly can to get in. Come back after your junior year with everything completed and the people here can properly chance you. Anything can happen in the next 1.5 years, for better or for worse.

if you get A’s everywhere you’ll have a very strong GPA, and you should try and fix the grade with summer school and/or retaking the course.

Improvement, especially in math, is something that’s common, and they like upward trends, much better than downward trends (so as long as your grades only get better from here, it can’t hurt you much.)

i.e. I dropped algebra II in 8th grade bc I couldn’t handle it, then in high school I doubled up to catch up to the students who stayed, and now I’m a senior in BC Calculus and I have the highest grade, a 100, competing against very competitive students, while I literally sit in the back of the class and do nothing while I wait for the next test. My teacher is actually disappointed that i got the highest grade because I put in so little work for success lol…
