Would a school reduce aid if you ask for more?

I am so grateful for the aid my daughter got (all need based) to help us make it possible to send her to her dream school. I did -- send a letter outlining why I was hopeful they might offer us more but I realize it's a bit of a pipe dream. I don't really expect to see more $$ since we don't have any realistic reasons to get any beyond just that it would mean a little less in the loans department... But now I'm panicking that not only will they deny more aid, they'll take offense at us asking and rescind some of what was offered.

Is this at all possible? Has it ever happened?

I’ve never heard of a college rescinding part of a FA package because a family requested a review. As long as you asked respectfully, I don’t think you have anything to worry about.

I agree with entomom. Just ask politely and respectfully.
