Would i be "okay" to apply to NYU as a junior standing??

My stat.
College GPA: at current college 3.87
gpa calculated with college courses taken during HS: 3.74

SAT (NYU does not allow me to re-take SAT) : best. verbal 500
math 710

SATII: writing 560
mathIIC 740
Chem 720
Korean 800

HS gpa: 3.5 (approximately)

My two biggest concerns are 1) college course taken during HS . I took calculus courses during HS and passed with B and B-. I called NYU and asked them if they include those grades to gpa, and they said they won't and they will look more on my gpa from current college.

second concerns is my high school record. as you see it...

I am currently attending UCD.

NYU admission staff said average gpa for accepted transfer student is 3.4~5.

I will be applying as chem. major, not stern or drama.

Do you think i am aiming too high?

Main reason i want to transfer is location.

if your applying to the Stern School of Business i would say it might be a little tough, but for most everything else, you should be ok. obviously its not a lock but you have a great shot. good luck

I'd be surprised if you didn't get in. Verbal SAT is very low for NYU, but your GPA and credits should more than make up for that. Write a great essay too, lol.

Best of luck :)

I think you have a very good shot. Your college GPA is very impressive. Although your HS gpa could be better and your SAT verbal is 500, you have show that you can be successful in college and have matured since HS, while showing to the admission committee once again that SATs dont necessarily relate to success in college.
Like ajp87 said, Stern migh have been difficult, but as a chem major who is applying to (I think) CAS, you shouldnt have a problem getting in. Good luck

I feel a little better.

Thanks for replies.

plus, i won't be applying to sterm haha.

No way...

Yeah I think you definitely have a fine shot. Your college GPA is impressive and it really shows that you've come a long way since high school. Im not too familiar with NYU, but I think you should be a strong applicant.

Best of luck!
