Transfer

I just graduated highschool and I only applied to 3 colleges. NYU Stern being one of them, I was denied.

I am now going to be attending a school (University of Oregon) that I do not really want to attend. I still really want ot go to Stern.

In highschool I got a 3.3 GPA unweighted, but a 2130 sat (740m 710r 680w) and on SATII's I got a 720 Math IIc and a 640 Chemistry

My highschool gpa is low because of my freshman and sophomore years, but my last two years I did very well with a difficult courseload and did well on AP exams.
Calc AB=5
Stat=5
Chemistry=4
Physics C 4's on both mechanics and E&M
AP Euro=3

I would like to retake the SAT I think I can do better, my score is from end of junior year. And I have a feeling that I will do very well in my first year at oregon 3.7 gpa easily with classes that are challenging.

So what do you think my chances are and what else could I do to help my chances.

I think you'll have a good shot - you've got the right idea to retake the SAT if you're applying for sophomore standing. A 3.7 from a state university with challenging courses should give you a good shot at Stern. Good luck.

You can't retake the SAT as a transfer applicant to NYU. They will not look at SAT's taken after your HS graduation date.

oh yeah i forgot NYU is the only school I've seen like that.

still, they say they don't use them, but someone asked the question on the NYU forum and admissions said they can't help but see the scores, so it might help.

If you don't mind me asking, what was your gpa when you applied? I'm not sure if 3.3 is your overall for all four years or when you applied. Good luck with the transfer though.

it was like 3.2 or something when i applied, I had a bit of slacking second semester of senior year but it was still decent, not my best though it was a-'s and b+'s
