I'm planning to major in journalism, and I know that UGA has a good program, so I'm considering applying. However, I'm not sure if the school overall is right for me. I've heard that it's quite a party school, and that Greek life and athletics are both a major part of campus life. I definitely don't want to join a sorority, and I have no interest in sports. I'm mostly interested in indie music and the arts (which does make Athens quite appealing), and am friends with the "weird" kids. I think I'm probably more well-suited to a LAC personality-wise, but I really want a good journalism program. Is there life at UGA beyond sports and partying, or would I feel underrepresented and lonely as a more artsy introvert?
(I don't mean to cause any offense with my thoughts on the school- I haven't actually visited, and this is just my initial impression.)
